The Benefits of Juicing Ginger

I juice every day, but I don't always juice the same things. I try to use different fruits and veggies to get a wider variety of health benefits.

The one thing that is always consistent in my juice is a bit of spice.

Yep! You read that right. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you will notice that most of my juice recipes call for a bit of ginger root or turmeric.

Let’s talk ginger today!

Ginger is the root of a plant that belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. It has been used since ancient times for cooking and for its medicinal properties.

I just love juice recipes with ginger. It gives a unique kick to the juice, and it goes well with almost anything. And a small 1-inch piece with 1 liter of juice is enough to enjoy the benefits of juicing ginger.

Here are a few reasons why ginger in juice recipes is a great idea.

  1. Ginger can help treat digestive issues. It speeds up food movement through the digestive system, helping relieve constipation, bloating, and gas.
  2. Ginger relieves many types of nausea and also morning sickness in pregnant women.
  3. Ginger soothes menstrual pain.
  4. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce chronic inflammations in the body.
  5. Ginger combats free radicals and helps reduce oxidative stress. Too many free radicals in the body may lead to cellular damage.
  6. Ginger helps control blood sugar levels and is beneficial for people with type 2 diabetes.
  7. Ginger can help fight flu and common colds.
  8. Ginger drops LDL cholesterol levels. High levels of LDL cholesterol can lead to heart disease.
  9. Ginger enhances brain function and can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

The health benefits of ginger root are quite phenomenal.

If you’re not used to ginger’s taste but want to include them in your diet, you can start by adding just a tiny bit to your juice. Go easy on it, though – ginger has a very strong taste, and adding too much might overpower your juice.

One of my favorite juice recipes with ginger is Amber Glory.
